RESIDENT PHARMACIST

GREEN LINE APOTHECARY is hiring Resident Pharmacists for its Longitudinal Independent Experience (LINE) - PGY1 Community Care Residency.

Applications are currently being accepted for July 2023- June 2024 program via the ASHP Match (Phorcas). Applications will also be considered on a rolling basis for the current year's program.

We are seeking eager, hard-working, and forward-thinking pharmacists that would like to gain experience in multiple practice settings within the Green Line independent pharmacy operation. For a 12-month contract period, the Resident Pharmacist's longitudinal track will include time spent in various Green Line practice areas including:

  • Green Line Apothecary community pharmacy
  • Green Line Supply blister packing practice
  • Green Line Express ambulatory care facility
  • Independent pharmacy business entrepreneurship practicum
  • URI College of Pharmacy PGY1 Postgraduate Teaching Program

This ASHP-Accredited Candidate residency program will enable Resident Pharmacists to gain valuable insight into the independent pharmacy business while undergoing dynamic prescription filling operations as well as collaborating with key ambulatory care, long-term care, and managed care provider partners.

Following the one-year residency term, the Resident Pharmacist may be eligible for full-time employment at Green Line (dependent on availability). To date, numerous prior Resident Pharmacists have secured full-time positions at Green Line following their residencies.

Pharmacy Residency Program longitudinal track:

  • Deliver on the ideals, values and highest standards of care upheld by Green Line Apothecary in a high-volume community pharmacy setting
  • Serve as overlapping retail pharmacist providing support to senior pharmacists; progress toward serving as primary retail pharmacist
  • Command all details of the daily pharmacy operation including patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, customer service, inventory management, financial profitability, and workflow management
  • Direct Pharmacy Technician staff to foster positive work environment, drive excellence and ensure highest operational productivity
  • Demonstrate leadership to align pharmacy staff around common goals and business objectives
  • Provide expert personalized patient consultation to produce optimal outcomes
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Manager and Executive Team to identify business opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of the pharmacy
  • Efficiently multi-task and manage workflow to ensure healthy outcomes and optimal pharmacy operational efficiency
  • Gain insight into the business of pharmacy - learning to navigate insurance reimbursement, DIR fees, contracting and more
  • Deliver on the ideals, values and highest standards of care in the Green Line Supply multi-dose blister packing practice
  • Provide pharmacist support to Green Line Supply’s Pharmacy Manager
  • Manage complex patient medication and supplement regimens
  • Chart and organize doses in weekly blister cards to promote patient adherence
  • Expertly coordinate prescribers and caregivers to produce optimal patient outcomes
  • Actively participate in Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committees with key industry partners
  • Serve as key pharmacy resource to provider partners including ambulatory care, long-term care and managed care
  • Manage Green Line Supply inventory to prevent lapses in service and ensure pharmacy financial responsibility
  • Facilitate efficient medication delivery with Green Line delivery staff
  • Conduct clinical pharmacy operations in an in-house ambulatory care facility
  • Administer point-of-care testing, medication therapy management (MTM), vaccinations and other related services
  • Gain expertise in medical billing for ambulatory care services
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure optimal health outcomes for patient population
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent
  • Rhode Island Pharmacist license in good standing
  • Immunization certification from accredited organization
  • Expertise in computer-based based prescription filling (preferred)
  • Expertise in prescription insurance billing, especially navigating rejections, prior authorizations, coupons and more (preferred)
  • Superb customer service instincts and desire to exceed patient expectations
  • Skillful communicator and demonstrated ability to connect with patients, colleagues, fellow practitioners, and management
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and accomplish simultaneous business objectives
  • Expert clinical knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of natural, homeopathic, and herbal medicine (preferred)
  • Ability to work on feet for long periods with minimal breaks
  • Full-time, 40 hour per week schedule
  • Schedule alternates periodically throughout residency M-F 9a-5p, M-F 12p-8p and may include weekend shifts
  • Position based at Green Line Apothecary’s Wakefield and/or Providence RI locations
  • $50,000 salary for 12-month contract
